OxyPureTM is NSF-approved hydrogen peroxide for treating municipal drinking water

Hydrogen Peroxide, H2O2, is a strong oxidant commonly used in municipal and industrial wastewater to treat a variety contaminants: sulfides, BOD, COD, cyanide, metals and refractory organics. Increasingly, H2O2 technologies are being applied in drinking water treatment. H2O2 is attractive for drinking water treatment because it does not form chlorinated byproducts and as a liquid it is safer and easier to handle than gases or solids.

OxyPureTM is specially formulated to meet the stringent requirements of the drinking water industry. It is certified under the ANSI/NSF Standard 60 Drinking Water Additives - Health Effects. OxyPureTM has the highest maximum allowable dose (30 ppm - 100% basis, when followed by chlorination) of any NSF approved hydrogen peroxide. It is available in 35% and 50% (wt/wt) concentrations. Some drinking water applications for OxyPureTM are as follows:

  • In ozone treatment facilities, OxyPureTM is used in conjunction with ozone for enhanced removal of refractory organics and taste and odor compounds such as geosmin and MIB. OxyPureTM is also used effectively for destruction of residual ozone.
  • In groundwater, OxyPureTM is used to oxidize hydrogen sulfide (H2S), and for removal of iron and manganese.
